AMCOR FLEXIBLES CUMBRIA
Keith Ogden has worked with this company since 1992 (when hygiene was a very new concern for the packaging sector). Working very much as part of a team with the company personnel, Keith has helped the company to continually focus on meeting customer and industry requirements for control of Product Safety and Hygiene.
With continual advisory and training inputs from Effective Control Ltd they successfully progressed through ADAS Hygiene Accreditation and onto BRC/IoP Global Standard Certification. Preparations have been made for successful transition to Issue 4 of the Standard ready for the annual audit in May 2012.
Recent inputs at Amcor Flexibles Cumbria have included:
Practical Hygiene Management Training for some of the Department Managers and Supervisors who have responsibility for day to day implementation of systems and maintenance of standards – if they have to “make it happen” then they must understand why and how. This two day course focuses on technical reasons why controls have to be in place, and more importantly the real commercial reasons why standards have be complied with. Details of all the hygiene and product safety controls that are in place throughout the companies activities are covered and practical exercises in production and storage areas help bring the message home.
Refresher Hygiene Training of the majority of the production personnel in 2011. As with many large, long established companies, Amcor Flexibles Cumbria recognizes that for standards to be maintained that all personnel need to be “on board”. To achieve this they need a regular reminder of the importance of demonstrating hygiene awareness and a compliant culture, plus a reminder of what controls are in place and why.
Hazard and Risk Management Team Training Course – following review of the changes between Issue 3 and Issue 4of the BRC/IoP Global Standard and review of previous HACCP/HARM Training it was agreed that the Hazard and Risk Management Team should be re-trained and the HACCP System reviewed In September 2011 the multidisciplinary Hazard and Risk Management Team took part in a two day course to refresh their background knowledge, learn about HACCP and Hazard and Risk Management techniques and review CCP decisions. The course has resulted in a well trained and competent H.A.R.M Team and a practical, realistic HACCP/HARM System that they have full confidence in.
