Training

Hygiene/HACCP Management Training to meet requirements of BRC Global Standards – Two or three day certificated on site course covering background issues, technical hazards and risks, commercial implications, detailed requirements of standards, documentation and the certification process. Made site and product specific using relevant examples and including visits to the production facilities. Aimed at individuals responsible for day to management of Hygiene, HACCP and Product Safety, and at those responsible for development and implementation of management systems.

HACCP/Hazard and Risk Analysis Training – One or two day certificated on site course covering background issues, hazard analysis, risk assessment, principles of HACCP, Generic Hazards/Pre-requisite Programmes, documentation, links to Quality Management Systems, customer expectations, requirements of Standards, etc. Includes example documentation to enable completion of site specific systems following the course. Emphasis is on achieving a practical outcome that demonstrates effective control to all interested parties. Aimed at Designated Managers and members of the Hazard and Risk Management (or HACCP) Team. To see an example of a company that has used this course see Amcor Flexibles Cumbria case study.

Practical Hygiene Management – Two day certificated on site course covering similar issues to the Hygiene/HACCP Management Training, but aimed at those in middle management and supervisory roles who are responsible for day to day implementation and enforcement. Site and product specific examples are used throughout to make sure that the participants realise the importance to their company and their role. Practical exercises involving touring production areas, staff facilities, exterior areas, etc are used to highlight site/department specific examples and to help individuals deal with any issues. The importance of “making it happen” day in/day out, night in/night out in a busy production environment is a fundamental objective of this course.

Internal Auditor Training – Industry Standards require a formal system of internal inspections and audits to be completed by competent/trained auditors who are independent of the activities and areas being audited. Effective Control Ltd can train these auditors on site to undertake both physical inspections and systems audits to confirm that standards are being maintained and systems properly implemented. Example documentation is included to help development of standard internal audit record forms and corrective systems.

External/Supplier Auditor Training – Confirmation that suppliers of materials (and sub-contractors) have adequate standards and effective management systems in place is crucial to Good Quality and Hygiene Management. Knowing what standards to expect from which suppliers can be confusing and can lead to conflict. Effective Control Ltd can help by training and mentoring staff to perform relevant audits of suppliers and sub-contractors. Example documentation is included to give guidance on the audit process, the issues to address and the report format to use.

Basic Packaging Hygiene Training – Keith Ogden has trained several thousand packaging industry personnel in Basic Packaging Hygiene. The course lasts for three hours and is normally delivered on site. The course syllabus is sufficiently flexible to allow any company specific issues to be included and to detail required changes to personnel and working practices. Site and product specific examples are used where ever possible. The course focuses on both the technical and commercial reasons for effective control of hygiene in the packaging industry and helps to achieve the required culture change. Students successfully completing this course will display a positive attitude to hygiene and be able to show a good understanding of the issues involved.

At the end of each course, students will take a short (15 question) multiple choice exam. The pass mark is 60%. Effective Control Limited Certificates will be issued to successful candidates.

Refresher Hygiene Training – The BRC/IoP Global Standards require a programme of refresher training to be in place. This should be based on the results of recent internal and external audits plus any complaints, incidents or non-conformances. Effective Control Ltd have developed and delivered several concise, company specific, cost effective refresher hygiene training courses that have been accepted by BRC Certification Bodies during subsequent audits. Courses typically last for 75-90 minutes and are delivered on site.

Train the Trainers Courses – It is sometimes impractical and not cost effective to bring in an external trainer to deliver basic or refresher training to the factory personnel. Effective Control Ltd can train your company personnel to delivery the Basic Packaging Hygiene Course and Refresher Hygiene Training. This two day course covers the principles of training, communication methods, enhancement of presentations, use of different training techniques, use of visual aids, management of training facilities, dealing with difficult candidates, plus detailed guidance on delivery of the course content. Candidates should achieve both the technical skills and confidence to deliver effective in house training. A copy of the Basic Packaging Hygiene Course and an example Refresher Hygiene Course are included along with other example documentation.
